Consumption is not only a significant equipment to satisfy residents’ own utility, butalso the driving force for an economy to grow up sustainably. In recent years, Chinese’seconomy is facing some unprecedented challenges, problems such as insufficientconsumption and overinvestment are also emerging, and it’s obvious that the consumptionhas inefficient effect on pulling economic, which remains to be promoted. However, underthe system of urban and rural dual structure in China, the rural residents’ consumption isof a serious shortage, whose level is lagging behind the urban residents’, and it’s still along and struggling road for rural country to progress. Therefore, studying the ruralresidents’ consumption and analyzing those influencing factors are of great significance, which can not only enrich and improve the existing theoretical research results, but alsocan provide a meaningful reference to deepen the practice of our rural economicdevelopment.Based on the consumption of rural residents as the main line, firstly, this paperstudied the present situation of the rural consumers, by analyzing the general consumptionof rural residents, the average propensity to consume of rural residents as well as thosechanges to their consumption structure, it’s obvious that the relative quantity ofconsumption and its ratio have decreased gradually though the absolute amount of ruralresidents’ consumption has increased. Meanwhile, the general average propensity toconsume has also trended down, simultaneously, the gap between the consumption ofrural residents and urban residents’ is widening. Secondly, in order to understand theinfluence factors of rural residents‘consumption, this article has inspected the status quoof those following factors, such as the income level, the price, the age structure ofpopulation, the interest rates and consumption habits, then we carried a thoroughdiscussion on the mechanism between those above factors to the consumption of ruralresidents. Finally, on the basis of these conclusions, the paper further analyzes the impactsthose various factors have made on the overall consumption of rural residents, the partialconsumption of rural residents, then we get those corresponding empirical researchconclusions.
