Study Of Knowledge Spillovers Effect On High-tect Industy Cluster

China has been investing in high-tech industry cluster, but the level of development ofhigh-tech industry between our country and the developed countries still exists a big gap. Withthe rise of the knowledge economy, the importance of knowledge spillovers in cluster has beenvalued. What kind of role does knowledge spillovers play in the development of high-techindustry cluster? How to promote the development of high-tech industry cluster? The solving ofthese problems is conducive to the reasonable layout of high-tech industry, which is importantto the development of the high-tech industrial clusters.Firstly, this paper makes a qualitative analysis on high-tech industry cluster in China. Theresults show that China’s high-tech industry agglomeration degree has improved gradually.Though in2007, high-tech industries have diffused to the central and western regions, the degreeof aggregation decreased, the eastern coastal areas is still main concentrated region.Secondly, this paper analysis the mechanism of knowledge spillovers’ effect on hightechnology industry agglomeration, and use provincial panel data in China during1998-2011,makes an empirical study. The results show that the different channels of knowledge spilloverhave completely different impact on the high-tech industry cluster. Knowledge spillovers willpromote separation of high-tech industrial clusters via patents, human capital flows. Nevertheless,the knowledge spillovers gathered through the introduction of foreign equipment makesignificant positive impact on high-tech industry cluster. Due to the absorption capacity ofdifferent high-tech industry companies, high level companies tend to be separated from the lowlevel companies.In the end, according to the analysis, this paper puts forward the corresponding policyrecommendations, and therefore makes clear the practical meaning.
