An Empirical Study On The Relationship Between Provincial Knowledge Spillovers And Innovation Performance In High-tech Industry

To strengthen the innovation cooperation between regions is an important way to improve the competitiveness of regional scientific and technological innovation.Under the background of promoting the development of Yangtze River Economic Zone in China,with the Yangtze River Economic Zone,which integrates the eastern,central and western regions as a foothold,high-tech industry as the representatives of scientific and technological innovation,this paper studies on how the innovative communication improves the overall scientific and technological innovation capacity of the Yangtze River.In this paper,using the panel data of the high-tech industry in 11 provinces of Yangtze River in the period from 2000 to 2014,the regional knowledge spillovers under the three indicators of geography proximity,technology proximity and trade proximity are proved to be positive to innovative performance by negative binomial regression model.But the influence of technology proximity is less than the other two knowledge spillovers.Next,the Yangtze River economic zone is divided into east,central and western to do further research,and the above conclusion is also established,which shows that the similarity between regional industries cannot promote the regional innovation more effectively.The advantages of geographical distance and the exchange of goods and service can effectively promote the innovation.Also the influence of regional knowledge spillovers on the innovation performance of high-tech industry is obviously higher in the central regions than the eastern and western regions,indicating that for the central region,regional knowledge spillovers promote the output of innovation most effectively,while the efficiency is slightly worse in western and eastern regions.The innovative parts of this paper are to study the influence of knowledge spillover on innovation performance among 11 provinces in the Yangtze River Economic Zone,and introduce the third measure of inter-regional knowledge spillovers--provincial trade flow,which is rare in domestic and foreign papers.The weakness of research is that the labor force is a recognized as carrying body of knowledge and technology,but this article does not include this index,because China does not have statistics on the exchange of labor force between the administrative regions.
