Based on the review of the "resource curse" effect researchfrom domestic and foreign scholars and combined with economic growth theory, this articleanalyzed the phenomenon that the economic growth across regions and natural resourcesendowment extremely mismatches, in order to explain regional irrational economic growth gap.First of all, the article conducted a literature review from three aspects: the verification ofthe existence of “resource curse”, the transmission mechanism of “resource curse” and the wayto avoid “resource curse”. The article also reviewed each stage economic growth theory in theaccordance with the endogenization of production factors. Secondly, based on the analysis ofsituation of economic growth and natural resources, using231observations about21cities infrom2001to2011, the article constructed a regression model, and the empirical results showedthat “resource curse” effect existed in Guangdong province. Thirdly, the article explained themechanism of “resource curse” in Guangdong base on four angles: physical capital investment, human capital investment, level of technological innovation and property rights arrangement. Finally, in connection of transmission mechanism of “resource curse” in Guangdong, the articleproposed four measures to avoid “resource curse” effect, in order to narrow unreasonableeconomic growth gap among different regions.
