Resource Curse:Forming Mechanism And Shanxi Empirical Test

In traditional economic theory,natural resources are considered to be important drivers of economic growth.But economic experience data confirm that in the long run,abundant natural resources will not only boost economic growth,but will slow economic growth.From the perspective of China’s regional level,The Midwest region is rich in resourc es,the speed of economic development is far less than the lack of resources in the eastern region,especially for abundant coal resources in Shanxi Province,in recent years,economic downward pressure continued to increase.Based on the above background,this paper first establishes the CobbDouglas production function in two regions,and analyzes the formation mechanism of the resource curse.The results show that the rich areas of natural resources are developing the resource-based industry,ignoring the coordinated development with other industries,extruding investment in fixed assets,human resources,technological innovation,resulting in industrial structure deformity,thus hindering economic development.At the same time,the environmental pollution caused by resource-based industries has further restricted the regional economic potential and affected the sustainable development of regional economy.And then through the construction of resource curse index describes the degree of resource curse,and use the regression model to be analyzed.The results show that: from the national perspective,Shanxi Province is the most serious curse of resources region,there is a negative correlation between energy resource development intensity and material capital investment level,human resource level and scientific and technological innovation level,there is a positive correlation between the fixed assets investment of energy industry and the comprehensive evaluation index of environmental pollution.Finally,in view of the reality of Shanxi Province,it is proposed to speed up the transformation of industrial structure,promote the reform and improvement of resource development and utilization system,strengthen the accumulation of education and human resources,vigorously support scientific and technological innovation,establish reasonable and reasonable ecological compensation mechanism Suggestions.
