With the growing complexity and diversified characteristics of the equipment systemstructure of the enterprises, the equipment managers are facing new challenges for makingright maintenance decision. Equipment maintenance strategy influences the wholeoperating costs and production efficiency of the enterprise, and also plays a key role inimproving the enterprise’s market competitiveness, which is the indispensable content tooperational management of modern enterprise. Equipment maintenance cost andavailability are the two key targets in maintenance management decision-making, thispaper studied the preventive maintenance strategy of multi-component series system onthe basis of the theory of reliability, proposing the opportunistic maintenance method tocombinatorial optimize the multi-unit system’s preventive maintenance.Firstly, the background and significance of the research was introduced, and reviewedthe research about the reliability centered preventive maintenance of domestic and foreignscholars. Based on which, elaborated the theories of reliability centered maintenance andopportunistic maintenance in detail, also with the related mathematical basis of modeling.Secondly, using the single component reliability as constraint, establishing asingle-component imperfect preventive maintenance model, which could calculate theoptimal preventive maintenance strategy of single-component. On this basis, using thereliability of single-unit as threshold condition to judge whether it need opportunisticmaintenance or not, and make preventive maintenance combinatorial optimize decision formultiple-unit in finite time interval. Respectively, setting up minimizing the totalmaintenance cost or maximizing the availability as single target model, and numericalexample analysis was carried out.Then, considering both the two indicators of total maintenance cost and availabilityof the equipment system, establishing a multivariable opportunistic preventivemaintenance optimization model for multi-unit system, and using the weighted method ofmulti-objective problem to optimize the model, genetic algorithm was applied to find theresults of model, and the numerical example was analyzed. Finally, with the belt conveyor drive of Qinhuangdao Port as an empirical researchobject, through the analysis of equipment failure data, established examples of the modelsin this paper, and simulation the result of the models. Analyze the key factors of enterpriseto develop the optimal maintenance decision, and provide support for the application ofthe models.
