Energy crisis and environmental crisis make people pay much attention to the sustainabledevelopment, so the automatic industry, the large amount of oil consumption and gas emission industry,has become the key point that people focus on. In the transformation of automatic industry, all of thecountries agree on the development direction of electric vehicle (EV). From the global perspective, theEV industry has been developing very fast and EV production and sales in America, Japan and Europehave almost doubled, which get benefit not only from the strong support of the government but alsofrom the positive R&D, high quality and good service of the enterprises. If our EV industry wants tostand out from the crowd, we have to recognize our stage and overcome the difficulties one by one.Most of the EV industry papers just focus on its important role played in the development ofeconomic society, the operation model in the stage of industry demonstration and promotion, and theanalysis of industry prospects and development strategies; but only a few papers study EV industryfrom the enterprises perspective. Actually, the understanding of the law of the industrial development isvery important for the future development of the industry. In order to grasp this developmentopportunity of EV, it is necessary to know the stage of life cycle that EV industry has been in and therelevant strategies that the government and the enterprises should adopt.Based on the theories of enterprise strategy behavior, industrial policy and industrial life cycle, thethesis firstly introduces the developing history and classification of EV, analyzes the generaldevelopment situation of domestic and foreign EV industry, and summarizes the developmentexperience of EV industry in the main countries and districts; Secondly, positions the development stageof EV industry in China, concludes that EV industry has been in the stage of industrial formation in itslife cycle, and based on this situation analyzes the technical and economic features of our EV industry;Finally, through business modeling studies on the enterprises’ marketing strategies and government’ssupport strategies in the development of EV industry.
