Recycling Modes Of Power Batteries Of Electric Vehicles Based On Product Life Cycle

At present, the development of the electric vehicle industry in China is still in its infancy. With the rapid growth of electric vehicles, large number of used power batteries will emerge. Researcher predicts that the world will produce 330,000 tonnes to 4,000,000 tonnes of waste batteries from 2015 to 2040. Thus, how to manage battery recycling activities in the different stages of the electric vehicle industry development, establishing efficient and reasonable modes of used power battery recycling, will become the major concerns of the future development of electric vehicle industry.This thesis studied the characteristics of different life cycle stages of electric vehicles, including introduction, growth, maturity and decline. The characteristics and effects of power battery recycling of electric vehicle were analyzed. Power battery recycling modes through four life cycle stages of the electric vehicle were also designed. Quantitative researches had been done for power battery recycling modes of electric vehicles in the introduction and growth period in order to achieve the optimal recycling mode selection in two periods for the electric vehicle manufacturer, respectively. The results show that the electric vehicle manufacturer recycles power batteries by retailers in order to promote the electric vehicle in the introduction period. Nevertheless, the electric vehicle manufacturer decides to recycle used power batteries by itself from consumers in the growth period. In the introduction and growth periods, the recycling value of used power batteries could effectively improve profits of the manufacturer and the retailer. The government should not only promote electric vehicles but also focus on used power batteries recycling. More used power batteries recycling channels should be exploited, and more technical and financial supports should be given to electric vehicle manufacturers for recycling used power batteries in order to promote the electric vehicle industry to develop better and faster.
