An Empirical Study Of The Regional Differences In Fujian Province

Since the Reform and Opening up,the economic growth of Fujianprovince was very rapid，the average growth speed of GDP was12.9%,andthe GDP was1223.653billion Yuan in2009. GDP per capital increased fromthe273Yuan in1978to33840Yuan in2009.With the significant economic growth,the regional differences come toappear,the differences between the developed area which was presented bythe Xiamen and Quanzhou and the undeveloped area which was presentedby the mountain area included Longyan and Sanming and Nanping havebeen widening, the regional differences which was not only effected thebalance development of the Fujian province but also effected the constructionof the west side of Taiwang strait.If we can say the regional differences wascaused by the economic growth speed,so what’s the true reason of theeconomic growth of Fujian? What measurement the undeveloped area wouldtake that they can catch up with the developed area? All this problem will bediscussed in this paper.Since the last30years, Fujian province put the efficiency in the fistpriority in the economic growth,and take the step to support some areadevelop in prior,from now we should focus on the balance development of thewhole province.This paper have done some quantitative analyze about regionaldifferences in Fujian province,and focused on how to narrow the gap betweenthe developed area and undeveloped area in Fujian.Firstly,this paper lookback to the regional differences trend from1990to2008,and thendecompose the economic differences and find the main differences was thescale of secondary and tertiary industry between different area.Afterthat,the paper get a conclusion that the economic growth in Fujian was pulledby the consume.Conbine the above conclusion,the paper analyze theconvergence in Fujian,the formula display there was Sigmaconvergence,absolute Beta convergence,condition Beta convergencebetween developed and undeveloped aera,and developed aera did not have Club convergence,but the undeveloped area have Club convergence.At thelast, this paper give a Late-developing advantage model,and give somereasonable and practicable advice.
