After twenty years’ speedy development, rise of China’s manufacturing industryhas been recognized by the world. However, images of being large but not strong, andlow cost but not high quality have seriously restricted further development of suchindustry. With the diminishing low-cost advantages in China’s traditionalmanufacturing industry, elevating manufacturing technology as well as qualitymanagement to create new core competitiveness has become an urgent need.This thesis studies the best practices in failure analyses and continuous qualityimprovement of F Company, a world’s first-class communication network solutionprovider and professional contract manufacturer, to reach the following goals:1) Showing the values and effects of performing field failure analyses andimprovement on elevating quality management of current manufacturingcompanies, and promoting establishment of regular field failure analysis andimprovement mechanism in manufacturing companies, to realize continuousquality improvement that focuses on customer satisfaction and customer’squality requirements.2) Bringing up promotable working models and methods of field failure analysisand continuous quality improvement, through studying F Company’s successfulbest practices on field failure analysis and continue quality improvement.This thesis focuses on the following4parts:Part1: Based on current quality development status, study the values ofnormalized field failure analysis and continuous improvement to company’s qualitymanagement and competiveness,review related cost of quality theories. Thenclarify and prove that cost of field failure analysis and improvement should belong topreventive and appraisal cost instead of field failure cost.Part2: Through studying F Company’s best practices of field failure analysisand continuous quality improvement, introduce specific working models, analyticalmethods, and processes of field failure analysis; and core management indices ofnormalized field failure analysis.Part3: Through studying F Company’s successful cases of field failure analysisand continuous quality improvement, show specific methods to continuously improve quality from field failure analyses, and associated values of implementing suchpractice.Part4: Summarize and conclude the values of field failure analysis and qualityimprovement; induce promotable working models; promote concepts of Chinamanufacturing companies learning from international companies’ advanced qualitymanagement; deploy mechanisms of normalized field failure analysis and continuousquality improvement; and realize continuous quality improvement that focuses oncustomer’s quality expectations and customer satisfaction.
