Arable land is the most important material basis for human survival,agricultural production and social development. In our country,more people and fewer land conflicts have become increasingly prominent in national conditions, food security is still the subject of our country that can not be shaken. The scarcity of land resources requires us to cherish and rational use every inch of land, to fully tap the potential of the land. Through the cultivated land suitability evaluation results as decision-making basis, reasonable configuration of land resources,which can quickly and efficiently optimize layout of agriculture.In this paper, in the basis of knowing the relevant research status at home and abroad, in-depth understanding of the principles and content of arable land suitability assessment, based on mathematical models and geographic information systems combine to Quxian, Dazhou, Sichuan 60 towns for the evaluation area of the county arable land suitability assessed. First, regard arable land polygons as evaluation units, Refer to the relevant literature, select 11 index, They are terrain slope, soil texture, cross-sectional configuration, soil pH, soil organic matter, soil effective thickness, drainage conditions, irrigation guarantee rate, form factor plots, land use coefficient, land and other economic factors, combine suitability evaluation principles together with index System, build arable land suitability evaluation system in Quxian. Then, using Analytical Hierarchy Process to set the right of each index to paddy fields, dry land, irrigated arable land. Calculating different types of cultivated land suitability of the total score, and with SPSS software and using K- average method for different types of cultivated land suitability classification; On the basis of cultivated land suitability evaluation, the county is divided into five regions, make full use of regional resources, resource integration, let the agriculture layout optimization come into being.The results showed that:(1) QuXian total cultivated area 103184.89 hm2, the highest of arable land suitable are 14035.26 hm2, accounting for 13.60 percent of the total cultivated area; The higher the suitability of an area is of 33817.14 hm2, accounting for 32.77 percent of the total cultivated area; 38918.09 hm2 farmland marginally suitable, accounting for 37.72 percent of the total arable land; there is 16414.40 hm2 of land suitable for cultivation of crops, accounting for 15.91 percent of the total arable land. Overall, QuXian arable land suitability structure is more reasonable, most of the arable land in high quality fit and marginally suitable state, there are still some arable land suitable for farming, terrain slope, terraces and irrigation and drainage conditions form factor is the most important limiting factor.(2) Finally, the classification results link to Arcgis, in the form of cultivated land suitability visual category, quantity and distribution in the region. In QuXian land use status, on the basis of combination of cultivated land suitability evaluation results, the study area is divided into five major agricultural regions, the eastern forestry industry area, key development area, southern central high efficiency agriculture, leisure agricultural region in the west and north of rational producing. According to the characteristics of different districts to optimize agricultural layout, improved development way.
