Three decades of reform and opening up make Chinese economy quickly make progress. Poverty population is shrinking substantially and the problem of food and clothing of the poor is basically solved with thirty years’long and unremitting efforts. The dream of poverty alleviation in China is coming true step by step. As the economic hinterland of China, The Yangtze River Delta region has an excellent location and rapid economic development, its GDP occupies a high proportion in whole China’s GDP, economic growth is ahead of most of the country. The city of Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang province play has played an important role in the process of China’s economic development. The poverty reduction work in Yangtze River Delta area is in the leading position. This paper mainly discusses the poverty reducing effects of economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta region. Take the theory of poverty as a starting point, and per disposable income of farmers from the lowest income group、Engel coefficient and Gini coefficient will be used to represent poverty. This passage will discuss the poverty effects of economic growth and make some empirical researches to prove the results. This passage will take Yangtze River Delta area’s actual situation into account, particularly referring to the effect of income distribution, industrial structure, the export import ratio, the rural consumer price index and the expenditure on agriculture on poverty. Among these, the effect of income distribution is represented by the ratio of per capita disposable income between urban and rural residents, industrial structure is represented by the product of the proportions of three industries among GDP and their output values. In this way, make some empirical tests of relative poverty reduction policy and finally make conclusions of how to make growth more conductive to the development of the poor, finally make poverty conduction come true.
