Research On The Corporate Social Responsibility Of The Chinese Construction Enterprises

Corporate social responsibility(CSR) refers to the enterprises should fulfill the legal and moral responsibility to meet the expectations of society in their pursuit of profit, such as caring staff, supporting the charity and carrying out other social welfare activities. As a pillar industry, the construction industry plays a leading role in the national economy and social development, therefore it should shoulder the social responsibility energetically. After joining in the WTO, the Chinese construction enterprises are facing the broader international market and more intense competition, so they must assume the social responsibility for their stakeholders to establish a good responsible image, and enhance the information transparency of all parties, so as to improve the competition ability of the enterprises themselves.The research of academy and practice on the CSR has gained great progress up to now both in China and abroad, but the study of CSR of the construction enterprises is relatively scarce. On the basis of the reference and the development situation of the Chinese construction enterprises, this paper used the empirical analysis and the mathematical statistics method to establish the CSR evaluation index of the Chinese construction enterprises, which makes the results more reliable. This article also put forward seven-point proposal to the Chinese construction enterprises according to the result of the factors analysis, so as to regulate, guide and supervise the behaviors of the Chinese constructions to improve their social responsibility performance effectively.Finally, this article made proposals for the Chinese construction enterprises and the government on the measures to strengthen the CSR management by analyzing the rise and development of CSR abroad. The Chinese construction enterprises should guarantee the legitimate rights and interests of their employees, protect the resources and the environment, care the customers and the community, be kind to suppliers and the investors and abide the laws. The government should strengthen the guidance of the public opinion, establish the CSR related laws and regulations, cultivate the CSR propulsion mechanism, improve the CSR information disclosure mechanism to promote and guide the CSR behaviors of the Chinese construction enterprises.
