Study On Spatial Organization Of Alien Chamber Of Commerce In Shanghai

Since the reform and opening up policy, Alien Chamber of Commerce aroused under the background of the economic system reform, the change of government function and the social transformation. Chamber of Commerce is a kind of voluntary association spontaneously organized by entrepreneurs and is characterized by self-discipline and independent governance. And the formation of Alien Chamber of Commerce is the result of inter-regional development of Chamber of Commerce. In the middle and late 1990s, the Wenzhou merchant began to spread their successful experience of setting up Chamber of Commerce to the whole country, a new kind of Institutional arrangement, Wenzhou Alien Chamber of Commerce emerged. Under the impetus of the Wenzhou Alien Chamber of Commerce, a lot of Alien Chamber of Commerce established based on the common interests of entrepreneurs demand and the needs of building economic ties between different regions.Before Shanghai Port-Opening, Shanghai had attracted large amount of merchant from different places move to Shanghai to do business. After the reform and opening up policy, Shanghai became the economic center of the whole country. The excellent regional superiority helped Shanghai gather much more merchant from the whole country to do business. As a result, Alien Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai has a long history and good momentum of development. After a century of development, Alien Chamber of Commerce has participated in the political, economic and social management in Shanghai, which has an important effect on the enterprises and the regional development. Alien Chamber of Commerce has become an important bridge between Shanghai and other regions. Therefore, based on the theory of economic geography and enterprise geography, this paper tried to inspect Alien Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and explain its evolutionary mechanism and spatial characteristics. Based on the foregoing conclusion, this paper would further explain its effects on enterprises, regional development and regional linkages. In this way, I hope the conclusion would be useful for the development of Alien Chamber of Commerce of our country and provide some references for the further study.This paper focused Alien Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and has a deep study from the two dimensions of space and time:First, this paper analyses the evolutionary stages and characteristics of Alien Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai from the dimension of time. Second, based on the evolutionary perspective, this paper summarizes the characteristics of organization structure of Alien Chamber of Commerce and analyses the spatial characteristics. Third, based on the perspective of network, this paper explains the shape and the mechanism of the external network of Alien Chamber of Commerce from the dimension of space.In conclusion, the evolution of Alien Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai is affected by policy during different stages. These policies also affect the founding time, the scale and the spatial characteristics of every Alien Chamber of Commerce. At the same time, during the development in Shanghai, the external network of Alien Chamber of Commerce is established and plays an important role in the enterprise growth and regional development.
