In recent years, as people like small pets and more and more people keep small pets, small pet economy has got more and more attention and small pet market has shown tremendous growth potential and a bright future. On the other hand, due to the enhancement of people’s sense of time, consumers have increasingly high requirements for the timeliness of the service. That how to improve the efficiency of the warehouse to meet customer demands for timely service has become an important topic to small pet supplies business with manual operations warehouse.In addition, studies have shown that the efficiency of the warehouse can get effectively improvement through the slotting optimization.For this reason, this paper selects the T pet products company as the research subject, adopts mathematical modeling and genetic algorithms to optimize cargo space, as result, the efficiency of the warehouse gets improvement.Firstly, starting from the background and significance of the slotting optimization, the thesis summarizes and analyzes the current research at home and abroad, introduces relevant theories and methods of slotting optimization including slotting optimization theory, genetic algorithms and genetic algorithms toolbox. Secondly, introduces the present situation of T pet products company’s warehouse, finds that the company warehouse layout is unreasonable, analyzes the factors that influence the efficiency of the outbound and finds that each factor have been improved to a certain extent by slotting optimizing, Therefore, the outbound efficiency of T pet products company is greatly improved. Then,conducts EIQ analysis on the orders of T pet products company to better understand the logistics characteristics of the company warehouse, takes ABC classification of goods to prepare for below the effective slotting optimization. Then, establishes the multi-objective slotting optimization model for the model assumption, outbound efficiency analysis,shelf stability analysis and the constraint conditions analysis, uses genetic algorithm and genetic algorithm based on the MATLAB toolbox to solve the model. Finally, uses Excel2010 to sort computational results of genetic algorithm, gets slotting optimization solutions of T pet products company, evaluates optimization result which Prove the slotting optimization scheme to improve the outbound efficiency of T pet products company remarkably.In the research process, a lot of work has been done, such as getting access to a large amount of literature and field trip. The thesis solves The unreasonable layout and low efficiency problem of the warehouse by slotting optimization based on genetic algorithm, combined with the manual operation warehouse situation of T pet products company. It’s perfect that research in this thesis can provide help to slotting optimization of other pet products companies with manual operation warehouses.
