As the study of urban system acts an indispensable role in area of urban planning and regional development, it has great strategic significance in national development. And urban system is formed on the urban spatial interaction, such as population mobility, proprietary trading and information interchange and so on. It can thus be seen that urban spatial interaction research is the priority of urban system study. This article firstly summarized recent research of urban spatial interaction, complex networks and population mobility in domestic and overseas, and figured out the problems of current research in these fields. Next we highlighted the theoretical research and practical application of radiation model in urban spatial interaction study, which illustrated the research significance of radiation model. Then, for the further understanding and application, we detailed the connotation and calculation process of radiation model. And we also used Python scripting language to compile a radiation model computing toolkit in Arc GIS platform, which can enhance the efficiency and accuracy of coefficients calculation. Finally, we took China as application region, and calculated and analyzed the population mobility strength between prefecture-level cities in 2000 and 2010.In this article, we preliminarily analyzed the simulated result of 2000 and 2010 from the 4 following aspects: overall situation, spatial framework, intensity hierarchy and 6 major urban agglomerations. And then we utilized complex network analytical method to excavate the migration network of 2000 and 2010 from the 4 following aspects: overall situation, spatial framework, intensity hierarchy and 6 major urban agglomerations. Finally, we drew conclusions from the following aspects:1. From the perspective of population distribution pattern: the frequent population flows almost exist in adjacent area range, which illustrates remarkable regional resistance. And it can be explained as the inextricable result of China’s peculiar household registration system. The current spatial framework of Chinese migration shows high spatial heterogeneity, and it has a positive correlation with destination cities’ population, economy and employment scale. Also, the migration distribution fits well with Hu Huanyong’s population distribution theory: Hu’s line acts as the demarcation line between east and west, the migration strength weakens from east to west, and the density of population distribution reduces from east to west.2. From the perspective of urban agglomeration: Today, China’s largest 6 urban agglomerations-- Agglomerations of Bohai Sea Rim, Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, Central Plain, Chengdu-Chongqing, and Middle Reaches of Yangtze River have notable aggregation effect on population, and the effect is getting stronger and stronger. Then we analyzed each urban agglomeration.(1) Agglomeration of Bohai Sea Rim sits in a high development stage, however, the internal structure is seriously imbalanced.(2) Agglomeration of Yangtze River Delta gets a balanced internal structure, as well as great development potential.(3) Agglomeration of Pearl River Delta also has optimistic development status and internal structure, but lacks subsequent development potential.(4)Agglomeration of Chengdu-Chongqing gets strong development momentum and balanced internal structure.(5) Agglomeration of Middle Reaches of Yangtze River and Central Plain also get steady development, but lack core cities.3. From the perspective of 10 years’ development: compared with the stage of 2000, China’s migration strength significantly raised and population distribution and mobility got more balanced in 2010. Urban agglomerations all obtained good developments in the past 10 years. And it is worth mentioning that Agglomeration of Chengdu-Chongqing enjoyed the fastest development, however Agglomeration of Pearl River Delta seemed absent on further stamina. Finally, according to the above analyzed result, we proposed 4 policy suggestions. 1. To address the slow development of Western Region and Northeast Region, we recommended Chinese government to further implement the strategy of western development and northeastern revitalization. 2. Aimed at Agglomeration of Bohai Sea Rim’s imbalance of the intra-regional structure, we suggessted that the government should emphasize the significance of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region’s coordinated development to optimize the urban agglomeration’s interior pattern and space structure. 3. In order to improve Agglomeration of Pearl River Delta’s insufficient strength for development, we advised to stress the concept of Great Pearl River Delta to leverage its second phase development. 4. To adjust Agglomerations of Central Plain and Middle Reaches of Yangtze River’s de-centralized structure, we proposed that Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Wuhan, Changsha should be acceleratedly developed to strengthen their regional core status.
