In the era of knowledge economy,small and medium-sized science and technology enterprises have become an important part of China’s economic development power. The key competitiveness of enterprises is talent,and compensation is an important means to motivate talent in human resources management. However, the foundation of human resources management is usually weak in the SMEs, and more problems appeared in compensation management. Therefore, it’s very urgent and important for the domestic SMEs to study on how to design a fair and effective compensation system and give full play to the important role of compensation in attracting, retention, development of talent.Firstly the paper expounds the concept and related theories of compensation, then applies case study method and chooses HB company as the object to study on optimized design of compensation system. Through the questionnaire survey, the current situation of compensation system is analyzed and the optimized scheme is designed according to the results. Finally, the paper proposes the measures to ensure the smooth implementation of the optimized design scheme and prevent the risks may happen in the process.HB company is an emerging small and medium-sized science and technology enterprises. In the process of compensation system optimized design, this paper applies compensation theory as the guide, combines with HB company’s actual situation, selects the Hewitt evaluation system to complete the evaluation for all internal positions firstly; then, establishes differential compensation structure of the management of personnel, R & D personnel and production personnel according to various positions; finally, specifies the policy of compensation adjustment. It will be beneficial to improve the level of HB company’s compensation management, and also provide ideas and references for the similar enterprises in compensation system optimized design.
