In recent years, more and more people from other provinces of China come to Shanghai, which can relieve the pressures of aging labour force of Shanghai under the background of economic transformation, meanwhile also lead to series of contradictions and problems. One of these most representative problems is the rising living cost in modern city-the higher housing price, which is related to the strong demand of the city. This problem receives many concerns from many people. However, to solve the housing problem can not simply depend on the "state control", because behind the housing pressure problems, we can find the important issue of "bearing limit" of the city. Therefore, I think the core part of housing contradictions of the Jumbo City is the structural contradictions, including space layout, housing structure, the division of demand groups and so on. It is the unique key to solve the problem that we pay attention to them, conduct careful analysis, and find specific ways to make policies. It is because this issue is closely linked with the masses, and has strong practical significance that I choose this topic to make researches, which are strongly connected with the problems of populations and the development, status, characteristics and problems of the housing structural contradictions of Shanghai as the instance of Jumbo City. Meanwhile, compared with experiences of the domestic and foreign related researches and cases, we can make the conclusion that in order to resolve the problems of housing pressures, the government can not only increase supplies, but also make advanced planning, guide the demand at the same time. Thus, we can follow the laws of the market, and we can also ensure that the city housing problems will not hinder the rapid development of the city and various groups will have their happiness.
