Historically, our country’s rural settlements in the low level of productivity of small-scale peasant role, showing the layout of the stars form, compared with the relatively sound urban planning, village planning is rarely rational scientific establishment. Broken rural landscape pattern prevented a village residential renovation and public service infrastructure construction work, is not conducive to promoting the work of beautiful countryside’s construction, on the other hand, decentralized and disorderly rural settlements take up a lot of high quality arable land. At the same time, under the strong impact of urbanization, people lack the awareness of the protection of intangible cultural heritage, traditional villages were severely damaged, declining and disappearing day by day. Against this background, carry out the research in rural residential landscape pattern, the results can help organize rural settlements, build beautiful countryside, add land reserve resources and protect traditional villages.Lishan town which is in the Sui County of Hubei Province has been taken as the research object in this paper, determine the landscape indices in spatial and temporal scales by learning the basic principles of landscape ecology and combining with the actual situation in the study area. Computing landscape indices in different periods in the support of Fragstats3.3 analysis program, analyze the results and discuss its impact factor driving force. On this basis, with IDRISI17.0 software to generate the type of transfer matrix of land use, and make changes in the suitability of land set of images to construct CA-Markov model to predict short-term land use change in the study area status. Ultimately, the landscape pattern analysis software is used to predict the data of rural residential landscape pattern in the study area. Studies have shown that:(1) During 1997-2018, Lishan town’s land scale is expanding, capacity of population and landscape carrying are increasing, layout mode tends to intensive, aggregation is in strengthening; tortuosity of plaque border is becoming larger, landscape morphology is becoming broken; plaque density decreases, the distribution is relatively dense, proximity is increasing.(2) Rural residential area due to differences in the level of economic development, policies and regulations, and other aspects of its spatial layout, its spatial layout and landscape form have different rules. Geographical factors are the basis of rural residential landscape pattern formation, transportation accessibility, urbanization, economic development level, policies and regulations and other factors are important driving force of rural residential landscape pattern evolution.(3) Lishan town rural residential needs local conditions and rational planning. Demolishing the abandoned buildings in the center villages around the town, finishing idle land, planning to build a new and improved infrastructure uniformly. Compress the residential layout along the traffic arteries and the waters, tap their internal potential and improve their land use. Looking for other mainline of the rural settlements which layout scattered, to build the center village in the several main villages’ center, put the scattered settlements in the planning.
