In the 21st century, no matter whether a country is developed or developing, export has already become an important economic activity. Every country needs export as a motivation for social development, which not only can earn foreign dollars, offer products for other countries, it can also create more employment opportunities, promote a country’s image and improve the country’s position in the world. As we all know, the whole world appreciates Japan, Korea, Germany and America. These countries have very strong economic foundations, large corporations and countless convenient products. South Africa and the United Arab Emirates are very rich, the total product of their diamond and oil mining is remarkable. As we all know, even Venezuela in South America produces beautiful women as models. So, the key to success and wealth for every country is to discover and promote their areas of strength and special products.Nowadays, the whole of Vietnam is trying its best to achieve its goal of "Industrialize & Modernize by 2020", so promoting export and business activity is highly significant for achieving this goal. Vietnam is a tropical Asian country where it often rains, has four clear seasons, various types of soil, which is good for developing agricultural products, especially producing lots of rice, coffee, rubber, cashew nuts, etc.Rubber is the main economic product, and it is also one of the ten largest export products. Because its economic value is great, which directly influences most people’s livelihood and development. In the provinces of Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Quang Tri, Dac Lac etc., many farmers have become rich by planting, processing and exporting rubber. In the last 20 years, the production of rubber in Vietnam increased dramatically. In 1996 only 220,000 tonnes of rubber were produced, it increased to 554,000 tonnes by 2007. By 2013 it increased dramatically to 1,090,000 tonnes, which made the position of the Vietnamese rubber industry stronger and stronger worldwide. Now the production of Vietnamese rubber is ranked fourth in the world. However, at the same time, because of limited production technology,90% of Vietnamese exported rubber is in the form of basic latex products. In addition, Vietnam has already belonged to the WTO for over 5 years, in this time there have been many changes to the Vietnamese rubber industry, both positive and negative. What can the relevant departments and companies learn from this experience? At the same time, in order to sustainably develop the rubber industry, a series of plans and systems should be designed and implemented. In particular, it is very important and highly necessary for Vietnam to predict the area of land used for planting, and the production amount of Vietnam’s competitors. The purpose of this essay is to answer the questions outlined above. This essay uses typical theories of international trade such as the theory of comparative advantage, factor endowment theory and the theory of competitive advantage as a basis, combined with specialized knowledge of international trade and industrial economics, to describe the situation of the Vietnamese rubber trade, to analyze the main problems which Vietnam is facing and offer some suggestions to solve them. In this essay, by thoroughly considering the situation of the Vietnamese rubber industry and market export factors, we propose the Vietnamese government and relevant corporations should focus on supporting the industry and improving the technology, to improve the competitiveness of its exports.
