Location chosing is an important part of hotel business strategy. It has a significant impact on the hotel running. Meanwhile, regional study is also an important issue of tourism geography study. In this context, the author uses the mathods of spatial data arrangement, spatial dependence analysis and spatial econometric to analyze the spatial structure and its influencing factors of upscale hotels and economic hotels. In term of spatial structure patterns, this paper concludes that upscale hotels and economic hotels tend to be spatial agglomeration in Shanghai, but there are significant differences between the two patterns:Firstly, upscale hotels tend to be stronger in spatial agglomeration than economic hotels, and the smaller geography space is the more obvious this phenomenon is; Secondly, upscale hotels and economic hotels have different forms of spatial distribution pattern, ie upscale hotels are agglomerated along " Yan’an Road——Century Avenue", while economic hotels tend to be homogeneous at Puxi within the Middle Ring Road; Thirdly, upscale hotels and economic hotels have different evolution models, which the evolution of upscale hotels is a typical "Pole-Axis Progressive" diffusion model in space while the evolution of economic hotels has the tendency of dispersion in the large scale space and agglomeration in the small scale space. In terms of the influencing factors, the paper concludes that the spatial distribution of upscale hotels and economic hotels are all affected by the intensity of business activities, which means that the business market is the main market for Shanghai hotel industry. Moreover, the spatial distribution of economic hotels is also affected by spatial dependence and major transportation and cluture facilities, which means that the location chosing of economic hotels is affected by both the other economic hotels and city’s major transportation and cluture facilities.
