The thesis carries out the warehouse management optimization research based on a company named Rhett which is a manufacturing enterprise, and helps to formulate corresponding inventory control strategies according to the company’s actual situation, aiming at keeping the inventory at the low level without influencing its normal producing activities. At the same time of reducing inventory costs, improving the company’s capital turnover and maintaining its healthy development are also presented in the thesis.It is found that pull inventory control which is based on the guiding ideology of lean manufacturing management can effectively reduce the inventory after the research of the present situation of lean production theory home and aboard. By the means of investigation and analysis of the company’s warehouse management problems, many of which are revealed like inaccurate market demand forecast, single purchasing way and obsolete material taking up much capital. Then, the thesis tries to propose optimization solutions from qualitative and quantitative perspectives. In the quantitative aspect, referring to related data of Rhett, an ABC classification should be made to the material, and pull or push warehouse control strategies are generated in accordance with the characteristics of all kinds of material, the strategies including reorder point method, the biggest- minimum value method and MRP, etc. In the qualitative aspect, the focus is put on the optimization of inventory verification cycle and obsolete material dispose. In the last, the safeguard measures of warehouse management optimization are raised from three aspects—economic benefit, management system and organization system.
