A Study On The Relationship Between Host Residents’ Place Attachment And Their Attitude Toward Tourism Development In Rural Tourism Destination

With the support of national policy and local government, China’s rural tourism is growing dramatically which lead to great economic and social benefits. To obtain the sustainable tourism development, it is critical to get the support of residents for local tourism development. Factors that influence residents support for tourism have been extensively studied by tourism scholars, for example, place attachment is an important factor. Thus, this study chooses local residents as study object and uses survey data to analysis the relation between place attachment and tourism support and provides related managerial suggestion. It makes significant theoretical and practical sense.Firstly, this study introduced the rapid development of China’s rural tourism and put forward the importance of residents’place attachment and tourism support for sustainable rural tourism. Next, by studying the related literature, the theoretical model and hypothesis came out. Then, the survey data were analyzed by using SPSS 20.0 to test the theoretical model and hypothesis. Finally, conclusion and management implications were given.Important conclusion of this study:(1) Place attachment of survey residents and their support for rural tourism need to be improved. (2) Place attachment directly and positively affects the support of the residents for rural tourism. (3) There are differences among individuals with respect to place attachment and support for rural tourism.
