Textile and garment are bulk commodities in international trade, and textiles and garmentsare the main export products of manufactured goods in the foreign trade. The Chinese garmentindustry is a relatively complete industrial system and has a high-level garment manufacturingcapability. In1994, China has established itself to be the largest garment production country inthe world. What is the role of China in connection to the garment trade in Africa? Up until now,Sino-African trade in general has experienced rapid development, and part of that also textile andgarment trade have also seen the golden age. With these strong developments trade frictions oftextile and garment between China and Africa do develop as well. This thesis analyses theprospects of China-Africa garment trade, the causes behind trade frictions and its currentsituation, and finally offers policy suggestions.The research in this thesis is built on the premise of stable Sino-African trade relations andforms the base for a possible theoretical discussion with some significant references for practicalsituations. Facing the new situation of China-Africa clothing trade, the China clothing industrymust respond active to seek counter measures. Based on existing advanced research results, thisthesis analyzes China garment trade in depth and discusses from the perspective of valuecreation how to upgrade China garment trade in global garment industrial value chain from anunfavorable situation home and abroad by maximizing the margin between the trade value andthe production cost and cultivating competitive edges. This will be of great significance forsustainable development of China garment industry and overall improvement of internationalcompetitiveness of garment exports.
