Software and Information Technology Service Industry (shorted for SITS)contains both software industry and related information service industry, which hasmany important features, such as low energy-consuming, fast iteration and hightechnology and so on. Especially, high technology of SITS makes that SITS plays anintegral role in the process of significant adjustment of economic structure in China,which forms SITS an independent industry. During the next National TwelfthFive-Year Plan period, the new generation of information and communicationtechnologies have a sustainable development, which gives SITS many growing points,including a lot of popular areas, such as internet of things, cloud computing andmobile internet and so on. As an important base for information industry in China,Sichuan province shall play a key role in thisreform and development of SITS.In the field of research of regional economic development, study on the regionalagglomeration for industry economy has attracting the attention of many researchersat home and abroad in recent decades. These resultsgive guide to the formation ofrelated policy in the areas of industry-related policy formulation. There are a lot ofresearch frameworks of spatial analysis currently, which yet contains their ownadvantages and disadvantages. Especially, there lack applications of these methods toSITS, so the theoretical system for study of SITS is incomplete. In addition, there aresome special disadvantages in research of SITS in China, such as the connotation anddenotation definition are unclear andsometimes contradict, difficult to accuratelyobtain data as well as the backward datamotion of SITS, and so on.Based on these situations, this thesis proposes appropriate method for spatialanalysis of SITS after a comprehensive analysis of domestic and internationalspace-related analysis. This gives a specific analysis of SITS development level andits spatial pattern in Sichuan province, and then mines the spatial distribution of thesedata, the nature of spatial agglomeration and the relationship between SITS and otherindustries in Sichuan province. Finally, we also find the reasons for these phenomena. This thesis will build the theory of study development level of SITS in twodirections, including different industries and different areas.First of all, by application of inter industrial analysis in input-output economy,we give the relationship between SITS and other industries, and study the impact ofSITS to the other areas.Then, we turn to consider development level of SITS in different cities inSichuan province. In order to study development level of regional SITS quantitively,we introduce the concept of SITS level index, which gives a quantitative descriptionof the level of development of the regional SITS. More specifically, we first definedthe connotation and denotation of SITS and then choose15indicators to measure thedevelop level of SITS. Next, we do series of elementary statistical analysis to someintuitive ones of these indicators, and give a qualitatively description. Then, a modelto describe develops level of SITS quantitively is built by applying factor analysis,which we call "development levelindex of software and information technologyservices industry"(shorted for SISDI). This index is the base of our study.Based on SISDI, we study the spatial structure of SITS in different cities ofSichuan province in two directions.One the one hand, we use Moran’s index todiscuss the regional differences and agglomeration of SITS in Sichuan province. Onthe second hand, we use k-means clustering in space to classify the cities according tothe development level of SITS. Throughout the research process, we utilize ArcGIS tovisualize the data, which makes conclusions seem intuitive and straightforward.By using the theory of spatial analysis to regional economy, this paper reachessome conclusions of development level of SITS in Sichuan province. These resultsshow us the advantages and disadvantages of the development of SITSin Sichuanprovince recently, which gives us a good reference for government’s policy planning.
