Since the twentieth Century80’s, lots of surplus labor has flowed into the city, which happened everywhere in China. These migrant labourers have made great contribution to the development of the cities and the progress of society. Because of some social history reasons and the restriction of different structure between urban rural areas, it is hard for them to integrate to the urban life. They have to face problems like employment discrimination, identity vegue and little social security. At present, the new generation of migrant workers have already come into the talent market, which had a big generation gap with t the old generation of migrant workers owing to different growing background and social environment. Therefore, it will be very useful to study the difference and factors that will affect their willing to stay at cities deeply, which will help to improve their quality of life and help them integrate to cities more quickly.Based on a review of labor migration theories and related literature, this paper uses the micro data from the economic research in2009by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Institute of Chinese household income project group survey and analyze the factors affecting their willing to stay at cities from the view of generation gap. Firstly, this paper statistically analyze the basic situation of the old and new generation of migrant workers. Then, this paper uses Logistic regression model to make an empirical analysis on the influence factors of the old and new generation of migrant workers’willingness to stay in cities. This paper studied the migrant workers’individual characters, family characters, social capital, city life working characters, the political system background and psychological characters. These factors were selected into the Logistic regression model through the chi square test. The results showed that health degree, cultivated area of their family, rural private housing area, whether or not having cross-regional flow and employment injury insurance, membership of Party member have significant effect on the willingness’s new generation of migrant workers. Whereas age, health degree, whether or not having endowment insurance, the average daily working time, education level, income satisfaction etc. have significant influence on the willingness’s old generation of migrant workers. Most assumptions were verified except a few assumptions. Based on the practical situation and the research results, this paper puts forward some policy suggestions to speed up the process of urbanization and promote the citizenization of migrant workers.
