Strategic alliance has become an important way for the company to build the sustainable competitive advantage nowadays. Making full use of the alliance resource, controlling the transaction cost rationally are both the core propositions in the strategic alliance research field. However, the present research comparatively overlooks the value creation side of the alliance essence, and faces difficulties in explaining the alliance dynamic adaption mechanism to the internal and external change.This study attempts to apply the organization design theory to the strategic alliance management research. Firstly, summarizes the assessment indicator of alliance organizational structure and propose theoretical hypothesis about influence factor regarding the selection of alliance organizational structure based on the exploratory case study of the3typical alliances. Secondly, finalizes the research questionnaire based on the result of pre-survey to the60MBA in Zhejiang University. Thirdly, based on the survey to164middle level managers, and statistical analysis, the research draws the following conclusions:1) Alliance resource complementarity positively influences the alliance organizational formalization; Alliance resource specificity positively influences the alliance organizational centralization, specification and formalization;2) Alliance environmental dynamism positively moderates the relationship between resource specificity and organization centralization and negatively moderates the relationship between resource complementarity and organization formalization;3) Alliance organization specification and formalization fully mediates the relationship between resource specificity and alliance performance, while organization formalization fully mediates the relationship between resource complementarity and alliance performance. The author first summarizes the alliance organization structure scale. Then the author further summarizes the logic behind both alliance organization selection and effect theory from alliance transaction cost and value creation perspectives. Based the research conclusion, on one hand, strategic alliance researcher can apply more systematic framework to explain the interaction and integration relationships among the alliance internal trust formation mechanism, communication and coordination process, knowledge sharing activity and management capability development. On the other hand, organization theory researcher can also refer to the related strategic alliance theory, to gain some insights when innovate organization theory and research organizational change.
