It is a development-trend for auto industry that car enhancing safety, reducing emisson and saving energy. To meet these requirements of the auto industry, steel enterprise has developed the type of advanced high strength steel that it is widely used by the world’s major car manufacturers. The advanced high strength steel is a key product for measuring the technical level of iron&steel industry of one nation. Currently, we have capability to produce a great variety of automotive sheets, but lack of corresponding national standards. In order to promote the independent innovation of iron&steel and automotive industries, we shall develope the national standards for automotive steel sheet promptly. The suggest of a series of advanced high strength steel development has been proposed by Baosteel, an automotive steel sheet producer with the largest output, most advanced technology and great variety in China. And Baosteel was appointed to develop these AHSS standards by National Standards Committee. According to the problems of technical difficulty, workload, time limit for Development AHSS standards project, this paper studies the project time management problem with the way combining basic theory of modern project management with AHSS project actual situation.Utilizing the theory, method and tools of project management and considering the characteristics of the development of advanced high strength steel sheet national standards, the work of this project was breakdowned and the time management control plan was drafted in this paper. As the same time, this paper has also analyzed the implementation of this project and summarized the key points for the development of national standards. According to the actual operation of this project, the schedule was adjusted to meet the project time requirements.
