Abstract/Summary:
Textile&apparel industry has been considering as a pillar industry for China’s exports. Due to continually increasing domestic labor costs and fierce competition worldwide, it is extremely difficult for textile&apparel companies in China to survive. It is one of the keen concerns how to face the critical situation and stay competitive.Base on related theory, the thesis would like to study the core competence of YG Textile&Apparel Company (referred as YG textile), and look for solutions to enhance its core competence. The thesis designed an index system specifically for textile&apparel manufacturing companies.12indicators such as creativity, product design&development and company reputation etc. were acquired via questionnaires from insiders in Shanghai area. The indicators were grouped into a higher grade with3indices:company core culture, company core knowhow and company core management ability. By using AHP method, core competence evaluation model was built and evaluation of YG textile was worked out. The company has relatively strong core competence, but there are rooms to improve. Company core competence enhancement solution cannot be made without knowing the existing opportunities, company’s strength and weakness, so SWOT and PESTEL tools are used to do internal and environmental analysis. Also enterprise life cycle theory was used to diagnose YG textile existing problems. Corporate core competence enhancement solutions were work out based on the above analysis in three levels:strategic level, daily management level and individual level, followed by detailed plan and advices. Hopefully the research method is helpful to YG textile so the company can stay completive and achieve sustainable growth.
