Since the1990s, the economy globalization and regional economic integration aretwo coexisting mainstreams of contemporary world economic development. With thedevelopment of economic integration of the world, to strength the cooperation amongareas and countries is very important to develop economy of the areas or world. Undereast Asian economic integration and regional cooperation background, theestablishment of China-ASEAN free trade area not only helps to promote the fastdevelopment of China’s economy, but also has great impact on global economicstructure. However, there are many problems in economic and trade cooperation ofChina-ASEAN which has complex influence factors. This essay uses regionalismtheories to investigate the history and present situation of regional economiccooperation in east Asia, and by analyzing influence factors of China-ASEAN free tradearea, relative countermeasures for China-ASEAN economic and trade cooperation areput forward as well. The main contents of this paper are as follows:The first part of the thesis introduce the general theory of regionalism bydiscussing the similarities and development process with a briefly compare between,differences between the new and the "old" regionalism theory, Europe and NorthAmerica under the region models.The second part review the history and present situation of regional economiccooperation in east Asia from two aspects: on the one hand, proceeding from thehistorical evolution of regional economic cooperation and the economic development ineast Asia, like Japan, Singapore, South Korea, discuss the present situation ofChina-ASEAN economic cooperation. On the other hand, from analyzing model andcharacteristics of the economic cooperation in east Asia, summarize the shortages andrelated reasons for east Asian economic cooperation pattern. The third part analyze the influence factors of China-ASEAN economiccooperation which include the structural contradictions, like the competition fromsimilar type of industries; the regional institution competition and the impact from otheroutsider countries; and the limitations of China-ASEAN economic cooperation.In the last part, relative countermeasures for China-ASEAN economic and tradecooperation from the cooperation and collective security in every links of industry;arrangement of regional integration and institution renovation. And this part alsopropose the future prospect of China-ASEAN economic and trade cooperation.
