Research And Application Of FMEA In TFT LCD Product Research And Development

In China, high technology manufacturing industry is in a period of rapid development, being transformed from manufacturing to creation, but risks always emerge with opportunities together in the development process of new product. A set of risk control scheme suitable for high risk industry is necessary to effectively control risks in the whole life cycle of product.Project risk management is a process from identification to analysis and to take measures of the project risk, including maximizing the effect of positive factors and minimizing the effect of negative factors. The development of complex products has features of high investment, complex technology, high risk, long cycle. In order to ensure the success of product research and development, risk management is necessary. Risk factors of R&D project contain market factors, technical factors, enterprise factors and project management factors. According to the questionnaire investigation of Chinese manufacturing technology, the technical risk is the main risk of new product development at present. If technical risk is not timely controlled, it will bring great impact or losses to follow-up phase of the project life cycle, even causing the whole project failure.In this thesis, product development project of TFT LCD in B Corp is combined with FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), and a system of risk management of B Corp’s R&D projects is established, formulating risk measurement tools of B Corp, extracting the Severity S, Occurrence O, Detection D and calculating the risk priority number RPN. According to the RPN, risk response plan and risk control system will be formulated.Finally, by analysis of FMEA effect, it comes to a conclusion that FMEA can help risk identification more standard and targeted, risk measurement more accurate and continual, risk control system more humane. So it proves the success of applying FMEA to B Corp project management, verifying the effectiveness of the risk management system, as a reference for other similar projects.
