An Empirical Study On Influence Of Regional Uneven Development To Economic Growth In Fujian Province

Fujian Province seizes the opportunity of reform and opening up, making full use of the preferential policy of party and country, so economy of Fujian Province is developing rapidly. But in recent years, the economy keeps heading down.Especially after2008,the global economic crisis makes things worse. Under the background of slowdown, reasons of slowdown have became a hot research spot.The paper is based on the the perspective of regional development, exploring the reasons for Fujian’s economic slowdown, has important theoretical and practical significance.Firstly,this paper divides the province into southeast Fujian and northwest Fujian, examining the non-equilibrium conditions of economic growth between these two areas.The paper first examine economic gaps of these two areas in such terms as the total GDP,per capita GDP and their growth rate, industrial structure and so on. Then use the indicators of range, standard deviation, variance coefficient and Theil index to make a further examination of the economic gap. Secondly, the paper takes Theil index as the representative indicators of regional disparity, and takes the real per capita GDP as the representative indicators of the economic growth, examining the total gap of regional economy in Fujian, the interregional and intraregional gaps of southeast Fujian and northwest Fujian. We come to the conclusion:Interregional gap is not the Granger cause of Fujian economic growth, while the total gap of regional economy and intraregional gap between southeast Fujian and northwest Fujian is the Granger cause of Fujian economic growth, and both of them have a negative spillover effect on the economic growth of Fujian.Finally, in order to ensure stable and rapid economic growth,this paper proposes some countermeasures and suggestions from terms of software and hardware facilities, industrial policy, foreign trade and investment policies and government policy, so as to narrow the economic gap between northwest inland and coastal area of Fujian Province, realizing a sustainable development in Fujian economy.
