Fujian Province Tourism Research, Development And Regional Economic Growth

Tourism, as an integrated industry with significantly correlation, which has an important impact on improving industrial structure and leading other economic sectors development. After tourism has been established as a new area of economic increase of national economy in 1998, traveling economy moves forward by double figures rates of rise every year in our country, already presents pillar industry in the national economy. We discuss the relation and function between the development of tourism and regional economic growth, the aim is to research the function and function mechanism from tourism to the increasing of region economy fundamentally. This is not only advantageous to scientifically formulate tourism developmental policy, give promotion in tourism development, but also good at adjusting industrial structure, promoting the region economic development.The construction of the economic zoon on the west coast of the Taiwan Straits was included in the plan of "the 11th Five-Year-Plan period" in March, 2006. In the same year, the national tourism bureau listed the construction of the economic zoon on the west coast of the Taiwan Straits as the head of the national 12 key traveling areas in the plan, which brings a good opportunity for economic development and the tourism of Fujian Province.Take Fujian Province as an example, this paper combines the theory analysis with the positive analysis, the quantitative analysis and the qualitative analysis, the time series return and input-output method to study tourism and the regional economic growth synthetically. Through establishing VAR model based on the tourism and GDP of Fujian Province, had Granger-Causality Analysis in both, the research focused on the function mechanisms on tourism development to the regional economic growth in direct, indirect and induced stages, and through the multiple effects to the income effect, the income impact, foreign currency reception impact, employment impact and industry linkage impact of tourism in Fujian Province, analyzed primary factors in the influence on the function about tourism to the regional economic growth, put forward the related policy proposal.According to the above analysis, we can find that there is bi-directional Granger-Causality between tourism and GDP of Fujian Province, the overall function on tourism development to the regional economic growth is obvious. Income and foreign currency reception effect are prominent, industry linkage impact need to be improved. In order to fully display direct and related industrial impetus function in the Fujian Province economy form the tourism, this paper proposes policy suggestion to adjust industrial structure, expand the whole economical scale, promote tourism development, display direct action of tourism and extend tourism linkage impact, unceasingly excavate indirect function of the tourism.The innovation of the paper lies in studying the relations between tourism development and the regional economic growth, adopt many kinds of method in positive research of Fujian Province. Moreover, through establishing econometric model, combine three industry survey comprehensively about the mechanism and the concrete effect on tourism development and the regional economic growth, provide the basis to the policy formulation.
