ABSTRACT:The construction enterprisesin our country havemade a series of achievements in the international engineering contracting market during30years of development since the reform and opening upin1978. However, the uncertainty and variability of the external environmentisthe most importantcharacteristic of the internationalengineering contracting market, owing to which the traditional advantage of our construction enterprises is being damaged, and their sustainable development is facing limits. This paperfocuses on how the international engineering contractingdynamic capabilities of our construction enterprisesevolve in uncertain environmentwith the use of dynamic capabilities theory in order to maintain their competitive advantages, which will provide someenlightenment and guidance for the construction enterprises of our country in the market of international engineering contracting.Based on the available research of dynamic capabilities, this paperclarifies the meaning of dynamic capabilities, builds a three-dimensional modelof the evolution of the international engineering contracting dynamic capabilitiescombined with the international engineering contracting business, and gives the detaileddescription and explanation for the three dimensions--state, process and level.
