21st century is a century of technology where technology plays a crucial role in changing people’s life! The fast iterative update of mobile hardware and software technologies and soaring market development boosted by numerous high technologies are really eye-catching. It’s under such circumstances that mobile phone has evolved from a simple-functioning device used for call and SMS to a super mobile carrier connecting individual and merchants owning to technological innovation and upstream and downstream industry chain integration.This paper firstly introduces platform strategy, transaction cost theory, the brief history and status quo of third-party online payment, and the five mainstream product models in the market, and makes pros and cons analysis and prospects forecast based on an in-depth research on these five mainstream product models. Then it quotes the real case of Company D to analyze the Company’s mobile payment product and development strategy, review and analyze the Company’s history, business status, mobile payment product, resources investment, strategic position, problems etc.Lastly the author of this paper puts forward suggestions for the mobile payment development of Company D:firstly re-position mobile payment’s role in Company D from the perspective of strategy and reshuffle its mobile payment staffing and organization structure; secondly make various resources investment to support mobile payment development, including human resources, business investment and capital investment; thirdly design and develop products with core competitiveness in combination with current mainstream product models of the industry. The author hence proposes diversified development with strategic considerations, resources investment and core-competitiveness products, and comes up with concrete measures. Then the author summarizes the whole article and points out the direction for further improvement.The research outcome of this paper is hopefully of significant value to Company D’s mobile payment development and also to leaders’decision making.
