Since2012, with economy growth kept weakening, traditional manufacturing industry has been increasingly vulnerable to the thriving new profiting models, such as E-commerce and mobile applications. As the priority concern of consumers changed into convenience and whether their needs can be tailored, the once booming apparel industry has slowed in growth or even declined. Companies were in insolvent due to accumulated inventory and slackened sales. In contrast, international renowned apparel giants still took a substantial share in global market; their competitive advantages are effective supply chain management and prompt response to consumer preference changes. This thesis will analyze the problem of surplus inventory most domestic apparel companies confronted, by employing supply chain theory and management tools. Taking listed company SA Garments Limited as an example, analyzing its inventory management status, to extract a solution to supply chain optimization. The solution of surplus inventory contains forecasting market demand through supply chain theory, improving the company’s and franchisee’ inventory management, building fast response supply chain to accommodate customized alternatives and optimizing warehousing and distribution management. The implement protection of the program include establishing supply chain cooperation mechanisms, building inventory management information system, improvement production management processes, etc. This thesis is practice oriented, we hope the solution we put forward could provide guidance for SA Garments Limited to optimize inventory management and achieve a better future development.
