Over the past two decades bilateral trade between Kenya and China has shownsteady growth although China still enjoys a huge share of the volume of trade.According to an economic survey carried out in2009, Kenya exported goods worth shs2billion and imported goods worth shs63billion. This huge trade disparity can beattributed to the political instability in the country in2007presidential elections.During the violence many businesses were destroyed and this scared away investors.The global challenge of terrorism has slowed down the growth of bilateral tradebetween the two countries.The Kenyan economy has also been affected by the high rate of poaching whichhas led to a slump in the number of tourists which also comprises of Chinese citizens.The tourism industry has been adversely affected by the continuous decline in thenumber of wildlife.This study looks at the ways the challenges faced can be turned into investmentopportunities. The government is putting up measures to control the terrorism menace.It has sent troops to Somali to try and contain the terrorists. In an effort to curbpoaching stakeholders have taken the initiative to promote conservation of our wildlifeand environment. The first lady Margaret Kenyatta is spearheading the save ourelephants campaign in an effort to resuscitate the tourism industry and promoteinvestors.The thika superhighway built by a Chinese company has gone a long way to helpcurb traffic congestion in the city. Youths have also got employment opportunities as aresult of these projects which in turn has reduced crime rate in the country.
