Study Of The External Effect Of Modern Service Industrial Clusters

Service industry cluster plays an important role in accelerating the scale expansion of modern service industry and improving the quality of modern service industry. However, as more and more clusters are built in a sense of geographic, we need to research deeper about the industry gathering. On the basis of existing researches, which are about the contradiction between specialization and diversification in enterprises, cities and local economies, this paper will emphasis on several results and thoughts about one-sided effects of the MAR spillover or the Jacobs spillover, after the analysis of geographical concentration, this paper finally comes to the result that only when ‘MAR spillover effect’ and ‘Jacobs spillover effect’ produce the effect of resonance could they make the best contribution to both fuction of the cluster and improvement of the enterprises’ efficiency. The innovation of this paper against ‘Resonance theory’ can be divided into below three aspects:Firstly, this paper studied the nature of service industry cluster. Existing studies discuss mainly from enterprise aspect and on the basis of differences between urban economy and local economy, they entirely separate specialization and diversification, and point out the contradiction between them and its irreconcilable character. After analyzing, this paper considers that in an industry cluster, enterprise won’t exist as an isolated one but more likely combines with other enterprises and exist as an industry. The area performs as a kind of industry possesses the characteristic of both urban economy and local economy, all these compose the study premise of this paper.Secondly, this paper reveals the mechanism of external effects to an enterprise in a service industry cluster. From the angle of one enterprise, as different enterprises implement different strategies of specialization and diversification, the influence from ‘MAR spillover effect’ and ‘Jacobs spillover effect’ is different accordingly. However, from the angle of industry, an enterprise needs positive influence from both ‘MAR spillover effect’ and ‘Jacobs spillover effect’, and this is the so-called ‘Resonance effect’. ‘Resonance effect’ has it’s unique mechanism of function, and this mechanism would be the key to researching modern service industrial agglomeration.Thirdly, through the research of Suzhou modern service industrial clusters, and the analysis by SEM modeling, this paper confirms its theoretical assumption, which is that in a service industrial cluster, ‘MAR spillover effect’ and ‘Jacobs spillover effect’ could function best and improve the efficiency of enterprise dramatically by their resonance.After studying, this paper concludes that: in an industry cluster which possesses the characteristic of both urban economy and local economy, ‘MAR spillover effect’ and ‘Jacobs spillover effect’ could produce resonance effect by great cooperation, and this external effects could help improve the efficiency of enterprise in the cluster and promote the gathering influence of clusters. Therefore, for kinds of modern service industry clusters, except formulating preferential policies to attract more enterprises, it’s more important to make enterprise more competitive and formulate related policies, try to keep sustainable development of modern service industry clusters.
