Research On The Influence Of FDI On The Export Commodity Structure In Anhui Province

As a big economic province in the midland of China and on the basis of actively undertaking industrial transfer, Anhui is developing and opening up faster in recent years. With economic growth rapidly increases, its scale of FDI attracted in is growing year by year. In addition, Anhui export trade has achieved outstanding results since 1990. for example, the exports has been expanding and export commodity structure has been optimized. The export commodity structure coefficient reached 14.64 in 2012, and only 1.16 in 1990.Does it have any correlation between the export commodity structure optimization and the increase of the scale of FDI utilized in Anhui province? Does FDI have a promoting effect on the optimization of export commodity structure? According to non-homogeneity capital theory, FDI contents more technology and has higher efficiency than domestic production capital. Its high technology content can help the domestic export enterprises to raise the technology level of production and thus enhance the products’ international competitiveness which results in increasing the export of technology products of the host country with the end of improving the export commodity structure.This paper analyzes the connection between FDI and the export commodity structure in Anhui province in detail from the aspects of both qualitative and quantitative methods. It first introduces the status of FDI and the export commodity structure in Anhui province and then makes empirical analysis on the relationship between them. The results confirm that FDI does have a promoting effect on the optimization of export commodity structure in Anhui province. From the point of long-term effect, FDI mainly promotes the export of manufactured goods for optimizing commodity structure. Though the internal structure of manufactured goods exported has also been optimized, but not changed obviously, because the structure of manufactured goods is still mainly based on the export of textile products which are labor-intensive. In this case, how to introduce and use FDI to promote the optimization and upgrading of export commodity structure is of great significance for the sustainable development of Anhui economy.
