The Study Of Spatial Measurement On Urban Trade Area Based On GIS

Trade Area is an ancient and novel topic. With more than 30 years of steady and continuous economic growth in China, residents’ consumption ability has a big promotion. Associated with the gradually rise of commercial real estate, urban trade area has a continuous expanding. Yet there were worrying signs behind the prosperity of commercial real estate and urban trade area. Phenomenon of an excess supply of commercial real estate and a disorder expansion of urban trade area has spread in many domestic cities. Scholars at home and abroad lacked of a systematic understanding of the urban trade area at present. There is less research on the measurement of the scope and boundary of urban trade area. The existing methods of measurement of the space of urban trade area exist in a number of defects and deficiencies. All of these lead to the lake of planning and guidance of urban trade area in the document of the commerce networks planning made by the government planning department. Therefore, there are certain theoretical significance and practical value of the research on the measurement of the urban trade area’s scope and boundary.In this paper, a scientific definition of the urban trade area has been expounded on the basis of the system theory. Defects and deficiencies were found by means of an objective and comprehensive analysis and evaluation of the existing measuring methods of the urban trade area’s space. Then requirements of a new measuring method of the urban trade area’s space have been proposed. The Analogue Method and the Spatial Interpolation Methods were chosen as the principle of the measurement of the urban trade area’s space with the aid of GIS. Choosing Jingdong urban trade area in Nanchang City as the empirical research object, we obtained the accurate measurement of the urban trade area’s space using kernel density cartography in GIS.Finally, following research conclusions were obtained through the empirical research in this paper : Firstly, there was a good applicability in the measurement of the urban trade area’s space through spatial analysis method in GIS. Secondly, factors such as natural objects, roads, land use pattern have a great influence on spatial form of the urban trade area. Thirdly, the measuring method of the urban trade area’s space by means of GIS has broad application prospects and a high application value.
