Study Of Farmers’ Demand From The Perspective Of Agro-technical Popularization Service Of Jinzhong City

Farmers, known as producers of farm products, are mainstays that require and employ agricultural technology in market economic environment; in addition, farmers are granted an absolute decision-making right of agricultural production and management and agricultural technology employment. In order to facilitate agricultural technology extension service so as to increase income of farmers, therefore, farmers’ demand for agricultural technology and factors affecting the agricultural technology choosing behavior of farmers should be acquired and grasped well.Based on farmer interviewing and local agricultural technology extension centers visiting, a questionnaire content is made; the survey of the essay covers 400 random farmers from 4 counties in Jinzhong; and then data collection and analysis on agricultural technology demand and service of farmers is conducted based on the received 366 valid questionnaires of 400 issued questionnaires.The survey result shows: first, main factors affecting farmers on choosing agricultural technology extension service comprise education level of farmers, family size, per capital contracted land area and major income source; second, in terms of specific agricultural technology demand, farmers have a great interest in new products followed by new pesticides and new fertilizers, and also are concerned about supply and demand information of new agricultural products; in terms of the ways of achieving agricultural technology demand, farmers prefer to face-to-face teaching and guiding of experts or technicians of agricultural technology extension; and fourth, in terms of farmers’ ability of agricultural technology self-studying and acquiring, farmers are limited by education level and look forward to the concise agricultural technology lessons popular and easy to understand in the agricultural technology extension in the future.
