In recent years, competition has been increasing constantly among domestic banking. The local financial institutions, especially the urban-commercial banks, have been dramatically expanded to the degree of establishing numerous branches outside its own regions. The financial system of China keeps growing and changing. With the emerging trends such as the initiative of the deposit insurance policy, financial disintermediation, and the development of Internet financial service, all banks are now facing the keen competition. We are involved in the era of financial system reform. It is crucial for the small and medium banks to adapt their business strategy and pave their own way to success. To adapt the trends of interest rate liberalization, banks have to expand their service model such as developing international banking service, community banking service, micro and small business financing, and Internet- banking service. In this article, we primarily focus on discussing the importance of international banking business(IBB).IBB has been growing constantly in banking recent years. For over years, big and traditional institutions such as BOC and ICBC hold leading positions in terms of number of oversea branches and transactions. While operating IBB, dealing and transaction background should be checked strictly. Therefore, IBB is low-risk and high-profit business, which obtain income via intermediary business such as service fees from foreign exchange, international settlement, trade financing, and bank guarantee. In this work, we propose a full analysis upon IBB of Bank of Nanchang from different perspectives. We would review the disadvantage of management and operation. We also conduct a brief survey on the founding background, product strategy, management system and development of the bank’s IBB business recent years. As quantitative comparison has been done with the IBB business of other banks in the same region, we shall analyze the importance of the IBB of the company with SWOT method with the purpose of further enhancing the development of the IBB for Bank of NC.
