Synergetic Development Of "Physical-Virtual" Value Chain In Pearl Industry

With the international specialization of produce deepen and production processes refining, some firms aggregated for local advantages forming the localization economies, which was characterized by industrial clusters and specialized market. However, the industrial transfer became popular, for some time-space limitations. Especially, raised cost and weaken local advantages.The development of e-commerce, cloud computing, big data and Internet declared the information era has come. The environment the firms faced has changed. The information superiority became the big weapon for firms’competition. Based on the specialized market, firms took challenges supported by the e-commerce platform, setting up a virtual market and a virtual chain.China pearl industry has won a place by quantity before the financial crisis, but has relied on land and labors heavily. Hit by the crisis, the firms and governments approached transformation and upgrading with e-commerce, set up the virtual market, due to the coexistence of physical chain and virtual chain.In the international pearl market, China pearl industry was in the low-end of value chain for lack of competitions. There were many researches on pearl culture and development of pearl industry. Instead, the researches about value chain of pearl industry were few and limited to the physical chain and global value chain.On account of the researches and background, this paper reviewed some research results of physical chain and virtual chain, and studied their relationship from the perspective of synergetic development. First, the paper analyzed the meaning, target, features and processes of pearl industry synergetic development, then structured the conceptual model. Second, the paper established synergetic development index system based on questionnaire inquiry and interviews. The data from questionnaire inquiry were used to calculate the synergy degree. Last, the paper took the pearl industry in Zhuji City as a case to analyze the problems of synergetic development, and gave some advises to local government and firms.The paper created two innovations:(1) the paper established the model of "virtual-physical" chain creatively, with reviewing some researches on value chain and combined the results of field research; (2) the paper tested the model of value chain synergy from the perspective of synergetic development, calculating the synergy degree to reveal the development tendency of pearl industry.
