The Model Selection On Newly Urbanization Driven By Tourism

Tourism is an important part of the tertiary industry. In 2012 the tourist receipt accounted for nearly 5 percent of the GDP in the whole country and became the real pillar industry.Unlike the other industries, tourism is not a sole independent industry, but a cluster of industries which can take the advantage of attracting consumption, creating employment and promoting the development of related industries. Under the background of new-type urbanization, as a growing sunrise industry, tourism plays positive role in economic growth, employment promotion, tertiary industry development and interactive urbanization.In the vast Central and West regions where resources, technology and transportation are disadvantaged but rich in unique natural scene and colorful culture. How to maximize the strengths whilst minimizing the weaknesses of tourism development to propel the process of urbanization is a topic worth in-depth research.Taking the Jiaokou Town of Lvliang City, Shanxi Province for example,The thesis studies the planning and implementation of the core attraction of the Anguo Temple in Jiaokou Town, explores the relationship among the different sectors of the new-type urbanization, and the interaction between tourism industry and new-type urbanization. Through qualitative research methods, the study analyzed the essence and rules of the economic phenomena then discussed the generalization and trends of the conclusions.The thesis studies whether tourism can and how to play leading role in the aggregation of industries and people, promoting integrated regional development and fulfilling the people-oriented urbanization.At the planning stage of tourist attraction, urbanization of the nearby areas should be considered and the interactive relationship between the two parts should be scrutinized. The study proposed and verified the integrated urban and rural development in experimental zone, explored the realistic route of using the important part of the tertiary industry-tourism to promote the new-type urbanization.Through the practices of tourism-driving new-type urbanization, various resource, sociocultural, political and economic background can produce different models. The thesis discussed these models and proposed the suitable model for the new-type urbanization in Jiaokou Town- a small tourism town. Based on that, the study researched the general principles of the development in small tourism towns. The thesis also aims to provide exemplary references for tourism-driven new-type urbanization.
