Research On The Competitiveness Evaluation Of Regional Logistics In Fujian And Zhejiang Provinces

With the accelerating progress of globalization and the dramatic advancement of modern internet technology, the world economy appears to be intricate and elusive; meanwhile China is now at the critical stage of industrialization, informatization, new urbanization and agricultural modernization. As a comprehensive service industry with increasingly broader prospects, logistics, involving transportation, warehousing, freight forwarding and information industries, plays a fundamental and strategic role in the national economic development. Accelerating the development of modern logistics industry is of great strategic significance in improving the competitiveness of national economy, better constructing the ecological civilization, and further boosting the progress of industrial restructuring and developmental mode transforming.In this context, China has been putting tremendously great emphases on developing the modern logistics industry; local governments have also been highly aware of the decisive role of the well-developed regional logistics in optimizing allocation of resources, and improving the investment environment. Compared with Zhejiang Province, the regional logistics of Fujian Province is relatively inferior in competitiveness, though an overall improvement has been made over the past years. More importantly, the building of the free trade area in Fujian Province has been bringing about overloaded logistics demands. Based on the intensive study of the relevant literature, theories and influential factors in regional logistics and its competitiveness, along with the current situations of regional logistics in Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, this study was dedicated to establish a scientific index system for the evaluation of regional competitiveness, and thereby measured the level of regional logistics competitiveness for Fujian and Zhejiang provinces through the factor analysis, unveiled the developmental gaps and weaknesses of regional logistics in Fujian, and proposed some constructive suggestions correspondingly.
