Research On The Urban Poverty Standard Based On The Perspective Of Multidimensional Poverty In China

The measurement of poverty standard is the logic starting point of poverty research, which is significant to anti-poverty policies. Nowadays, the poverty standard of urban China has been kept at the absolute poverty level, while the current poverty status quo of urban China shows an multidimensional poverty tendency, thus it is necessary to research the poverty standard from the perspective of multidimensional poverty. This paper is the research on urban poverty standard from the multidimensional poverty perspective. Through analyzing the multidimensional poverty status quo in urban China, this paper points out the insufficient of poverty standard now, then provides the reasonable suggestions to the formulation of urban poverty standard.First of all, the paper starts with the theory introduction of poverty standard and multidimensional poverty. Multidimensional poverty status quo is closely related to the settlement of poverty standard thus it is the basis and guideline of how to formulate the poverty standard now.Secondly, this paper analyzes the current situation of urban multidimensional poverty, respect of income, education, employment, medical treatment and housing poverty with lots of data. From the analysis, we can see that the urban poverty has some different features nowadays, but the poverty standard stays the same.Thirdly, by analyzing the current poverty standard and the problems existing in it, we get the conclusion that it cannot satisfy the changing and developing multidimensional poverty in urban China.In the last part, we put forward the suggestions of how to complete the adjustment of the poverty standard based on the situation of multidimensional poverty in urban China, including identify the poverty groups from the perspective of multidimensional poverty and assist them with different kinds of benefits, then improving the standard step by step.
