Since the stewardship was proposed 90’s last century, many scholars have been proved that stewardship was one of the positive factors affected the enterprise performance through both theoretical and empirical researches, so research on how to promote stewardship among employees is significant and meaningful. Based on leader-member exchange theory and the psychological ownership, the current study took enterprise ordinary employees as the research object, looked into the influence factors and mechanism of the stewardship. Through literature review, questionnaire survey, data analysis by SPSS and AMOS, it was found that leader-member exchange is positively related to employees’ stewardship, in addition, the effect can also be achieved through the mediating role of psychological ownership.This study mainly draws the following conclusions: first, the quality of leader-member exchange that employees perceived would significantly improve employees’ stewardship and psychological ownership; second, psychological ownership of employee promote their stewardship significantly; third, psychological ownership partially mediated leader-member exchange’s influence on employees’ stewardship.The current study reveals the mechanism of how to promote employees’ stewardship by using leader-member exchange theory and psychological ownership. There are two main theoretical contributions:first, it expands the research range of stewardship, focusing on enterprises ordinary staff, explores the impact mechanism through empirical research; secondly, it extends the research field of psychological ownership, explores the influence from leader-member exchange which is an interpersonal factor, meantime, it combines psychological ownership and stewardship, verifies the psychological process behind the stewardship. Furthermore, there are practical contributions based on discussing conclusions, providing recommendations to improve employees’ stewardship.
