Baishi hydropower station reservoir is located in the poor mountainous region of minorities, it is a typical agriculture-oriented reservoir, and is representative in the agricultural development of Chinese reservoir areas. The study can help optimize the ecological environment of Baishi hydropower station reservoir area, achieve the two-way coordination between reservoir agricultural development and environmental protection, as well as the organic integration of development, utilization and protection of resources and environment. While solving the contradiction between people and land, it can meet the development needs of agriculture, guide reservoir agricultural industry revolution and the upgrading of agricultural technology, promote the intensive agriculture growth pattern of reservoir area, gradually narrow the economic development gap among counties in the reservoir area, avoid problems such as social instability and regional incoordination, reduce uncertainties arising from resettlement of affected residents in the reservoir area, and facilitate the realization of a well-off society in an all-round way.Taking Baishi hydropower station reservoir area as the research object, the paper introduces relevant theories of sustainable agricultural development, analyzes the current situation of sustainable agricultural development of the reservoir area from five aspects, which are agricultural resources, agricultural environment, agricultural economy, rural society and agricultural science and technology, and systematically analyzes the existing problems in the sustainable agricultural development of the reservoir area: in terms of agro-ecological environment, there are problems such as agricultural diffused pollution, water and soil loss and ecological destruction; in the aspect of natural resources of agriculture, there are sharp contradiction between people and land and insufficient reservoir environment capacity; in terms of agricultural economy, farmers have low income, agricultural industrialization is low; in terms of rural society, there are problems such as low quality of labor and shortage of ongoing supportive policy; in terms of agricultural technology, there are poor research conditions and low research conversion rate. Relevant knowledge is applied to propose some measures for the sustainable agricultural development of the reservoir area, including developing advantageous farming, ecological farming and featured agricultural tourism, controlling agricultural diffused pollution, improving the ecological environment, improving the market mechanism for the sustainable agricultural development, establishing and improving the scientific and technological service system, improving the technological application rate, making use of economic organizations, promoting agriculture industrialization, integrating service, policy and support, playing the leading role of government. It is expected to provide some useful references for reservoir areas in Guizhou province and similar Chinese reservoir areas in solving problems encountered in the sustainable agricultural development.
