Studies On The Sustainable Development Modeof Woniuhu Reservoir

After institutional reforming, Woniuhu reservoir was run as an enterprise, facing variousproblems on environment protection, resource utilization, water conservancy safety, andeconomic income. How to develop efficiently and sustainably is a key subject for thereservoir.Based on experiences from the dam reinforcement, hydraulic turbine promotion, organicfish certification and comprehensive utilization of resources conducted in Woniuhu reservoir,the effects of hydro-junction safe management, environmental protection, ecological farmingand resources utilization on sustainable development of the reservoir were analyzed as:Dam safety is essential to the sustainable development of the reservoir and has a longterm economic effect;Hydropower is a stable income and important for the maintaining of the reservoir, andtherefore provide an ensurence for the sustainable development;Ecological fishery is important for high quality and high value-added fish production.Organic certification is a good manner to establish a virtuous cycle of the ecological systemand is the core embodiment and index of sustainable development.The ecological comprehensive utilization is an important incoming source to support thesustainable development of the reservoir.It is concluded that the suitable mode for sustainable development of Woniuhu reservoirshould be the one of which the dam safety to be the premise; the hydropower to be theensurence; the ecological fishery to be the core embodiment; and the comprehensiveutilization of the resources to be the enhancement.
