The International Comparison Of The Technical Sophisticated Of Services Exports And Its Influence Factors Analysis

As an important part of international trade, trade in services is playing an increasingly important role. Currently, the academic study of international trade in services focused on measuring international competitiveness of trade in services and the factors which affect them. With the deepening of the study, more and more scholars focused on technological level of export in service. Obviously, this is a meaningful work, compared to the total amount of analysis, research on technological level of export in service can make a deeper analysis of the structure of trade in services.Although this issue is meaningful, but we can find that the existing research results are concentrated in trade in goods, not trade in services. Because of this, this paper attempts to contribute in these areas.First, by reviewing the results of previous studies, this paper defined the related concept of trade in services, and summarized the indicators which measure the technological level of export in service. In addition, we have system reviewed the factors influencing the level of export technology.Then, on this basis, this paper selected the “export technical sophisticated”, which designed by Hausmann et al(2006), to measure technological level of export in service. And we compared the China, the BRICS countries and some developed countries’ technical sophisticated of services exports. We found that the technical sophisticated of services exports of China significantly behind the developed countries and other “BRICS” countries, only slightly higher than Brazil’s. In addition, each sub-sectors of the technical sophisticated of services exports are low, but the good news is that all the indexes are on the rise.Finally, this paper examine what factors can affect the technical sophisticated of services exports by utilizing cross countries panel data covering period from 2001 to 2012. We found that the per capital GDP, the ratio of FDI and the R&D, education, trade in services imports, services trade openness and urbanization are positively related to the technical sophisticated of services exports in the full sample evidence. Then we put all the countries into two groups according to income levels, and the empirical analysis results show that these variables have different relationship with the technical sophisticated of services exports in different countries. And based on the above empirical results, we proposed some policy recommendations.
